Does McLeodganj have snow?

Yes, snow falls in McLeodganj in December. During the months of December to February, temperatures dip to between -1 and 9 degrees Celsius. Snow usually melts within a day or two but it can take longer at lower levels where it snows more heavily.

In March, April and May, temperatures rise above 0 degrees Celsius and stay there for several days at a time. The summer monsoon also brings rain to this part of India; however, it is generally dry apart from some occasional thunderstorms.

The autumn season in McLeodganj starts in late September or early October and ends in late March or early April. Temperatures fall at an average rate of 3 degrees Celsius per month and by November it is around 10 degrees Celsius daytime temperatures. Heavy rains followed by heavy snowfall are common during this time of year.

Winter in McLeodganj begins in mid-November and lasts until late March or early April. Nighttime temperatures drop below 0 degrees Celsius and light snow often remains on the ground through April.

Although McLeodganj experiences all four seasons in a typical year, it is considered a sub-tropical region because of its relatively stable climate.
