A Refund Policy That Is Flexible Within 14 days of the sailing, booked passengers with COVID-19-related health concerns (symptoms or exposure) can request a full refund without incurring Disney cancellation costs, or they can apply their cruise ticket to a future sail date. Tickets must be applied within 14 days of being notified by Disney that you are eligible for a refund. The Company reserves the right to determine whether refunds will be granted at its sole discretion.
Currently, there are no plans to offer refunds after 14 days from booking. This is because doing so would likely result in tickets being sold at a discount which could impact the profitability of the ship and future sails.
Refunds will be issued in the form of a credit against your next cruise purchase or cash if the purchaser requests a refund within 14 days of booking. If a passenger requests a refund after 14 days but before disembarkation, they will not receive a refund and instead will have the opportunity to book another cruise with Disney.
In addition, Disney has stated that it will not reimburse any expenses incurred such as room charges or deposits made toward other than cruise fares.
Disney also notes that "in the event that a guest requires medical attention while on board one of our ships, they will be taken off the vessel and transported by ambulance or helicopter to a medical facility where they may remain for several days."
The most recent change made by Disney is the flexible return policy. Those who display COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of the sailing date can now cancel and get a full refund without penalty, or change their selling date to one that sails before September 30th, 2022. Previously, those who cancelled within 24 hours of their sailing date were not eligible for a refund but could reschedule without charge.
Those who need to cancel due to health reasons are still required to call up to two weeks prior to departure to make sure there are no changes to their booking. If you decide to rebook your cruise for later in the year, any discount codes you received upon bookings will be forfeited.
Cruise lines are offering more options to those who need to change or cancel their trips due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Many ships have stopped docking at ports around the world, which means passengers must travel back on the same day they arrive. This is why it's important to buy travel insurance before you go on board.
If you need to cancel your trip because of this new ruling by Disney, please contact them directly at: [email protected]
Disney Cruise Line has canceled a number of sailings while the CDC resume framework and test cruise circumstances are worked out. Guests who have paid in full for their reservation will have the option of receiving a 125 percent future cruise credit to be applied for a sailing before September 30, 2022, or a full refund. Anyone can receive a future cruise credit if they met the requirements to book a cruise prior to them going into effect. These include booking a cruise within 60 days of the date the guidelines expire, but also includes all guests who booked after they went into effect.
The CDC recommends that passengers avoid cruise ships unless there is an effective vaccine available to prevent COVID-19 infection. The virus that causes COVID-19 has been found on ships at high concentrations, so it is possible to get infected without knowing it. Some studies have shown that the virus may live on objects such as luggage for several days after someone with COVID-19 touches them.
Currently, there is no vaccine to protect people from getting COVID-19 infection or death. But research efforts are ongoing to develop one. In the meantime, prevention is very important.
If you think you might have caught COVID-19 on a ship, call your doctor first before coming to the hospital. If you go to the emergency room or visit an intensive care unit, you could put other patients and staff at risk of catching the virus.
For customers impacted by the cancellations, Disney Cruise Line is providing a 125 percent future cruise credit to be redeemed for a future sailing within 15 months of their original sailing date, or a full refund. Customers can also apply their deposit toward another cruise with Disney Cruise Line.
These changes will take place beginning with bookings that are currently in process or those made after the announcement today. Bookings that were made prior to today's announcement will not be affected and there are no changes for these customers.
The offer includes both Caribbean and Western Ocean Cruises. However, due to limited capacity, this offer does not include sailings to Asia or Europe.
Customers can call (800) DISNEY-CRUISE (347-2339) to request their free credit or visit www.DisneyCruiseLine.com/refund for more information. This offer cannot be combined with any other offers and is subject to change without notice.
COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease that can cause serious sickness and death. Senior adults and visitors with underlying medical concerns, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are especially vulnerable. By traveling with Disney Cruise Line, you knowingly accept any hazards associated with COVID-19 exposure.
Since the virus can live on objects such as glass and metal for several hours at low temperatures, guests should be aware that they may be exposed to the virus while aboard ship.
The most common symptoms are fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. More severe cases may result in pneumonia. According to the CDC, people who experience these symptoms should stay home from work or school until they resolve. A doctor should be contacted if symptoms become more severe or do not improve within seven days.
Guests should also be aware that there is currently no vaccine available for COVID-19. However, researchers are working hard to develop one. In the meantime, here are some simple measures you can take to avoid spreading the virus:
Wash your hands often with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Try to wash them before eating and after visiting the bathroom. Make sure to clean all surfaces around you, including doorknobs, phones, tablets, etc.
Avoid touching your face (including eyes, nose, and mouth) practices responsible hygiene.
According to Princess Cruises' refund policy, you will also be reimbursed for taxes, fees, port bills, transfers, and surcharges. You may also be eligible for a partial refund of your cruise cost, depending on the length of your trip and how far ahead of your departure date you cancel. The amount of any refund will be determined in accordance with applicable laws.
If your cancellation is due to an event outside your control—such as illness or a family emergency—Princess will make every effort to find another passenger to take your place. If this isn't possible, then you will be entitled to a full refund.
If your cancellation is due to your own action or inaction—for example, if you fail to show up to shipboard activities or miss your scheduled disembarkation time—then you should expect to receive a partial refund.
In all cases, your refund will be processed within 14 days of receiving your written request for a refund. Any refund amounts are credited back to the credit card used at time of purchase.
Please note that if you cancel after you have boarded the ship but before you have sailed, there are no refunds available from Princess. However, if you cancel after you have sailed, you will be able to obtain a refund. In this case, Princess will deduct its costs from the refund amount.
