The e-Passport also has an emergency contact list, which is useful for people who lose their passports.
There is currently no way to download an e-Passport from an existing one; you must start the process from scratch. However, some countries may make an exception for those who request it specifically for research purposes. Your passport expires on time every year, but there are times when issues arise that require you to apply for an extension. For example, if you need your passport for travel purposes and it expires before the deadline is up, you'll have to act quickly to get it renewed. Sometimes, however, you may want to extend your passport's expiration date so you have more time before it needs to be updated.
The length of your extension will depend on how much time remains by the expiration date. If you're close to the deadline but have some time left, you may be able to secure an extension of six months or longer. If you have less than six months until your passport expires, you will be granted a shorter extension. There is no option available for those who need only three months until their passports expire; they will receive the minimum thirty-day extension.
You can submit an extension request up to sixty days prior to the expiration date of your current passport. The process is straightforward and easy to complete online.
